"Simon was a pillar of the squash community in Sarnia and throughout Ontario and Canada. His love of the game was evident, be it through playing, advocating for the game or coaching juniors.
Simon's true passion, however, was in refereeing. He achieved the highest level of national refereeing certification. He could often be found behind a clipboard at various events, from junior events all the way to professional events. He was very well respected by colleagues and players alike. When prostate cancer took Simon from us in late 2011, we felt it important to continue his legacy. Our tournament has evolved to support local organizations to help others, who, like Simon, are fighting cancer and other terminal illness. The tournament mandate has always been to raise funds for prostate cancer research, commemorate Simon and host a fun squash event". - Kevin Bradd, Organizing Chair |
